When it comes to the intersection of law and culture, a lot of people don't even realize what is going on. However, legal shows and movies are taking over the airwaves in droves, creating people who are more interested in watching the action on TV than participating in it within their own communities. Law does make for great entertainment, and as long as there is an interest in the law and legal system, the shows and movies shall continue to be made and aired for people who appreciate them.

TV shows like Law and Order, The Practice, and every Law and Order spinoff are more popular than ever. These shows have some of the most famous and highly paid celebrities working for them, including the likes of Dylan McDermott, Dann Florek. These people have made their living depicting the life and work of lawyers and detectives throughout the years, as have many before them. The intersection of law and culture has been going on since the early days of television when shows like Perry Mason and Matlock graced the airwaves and went on to become some of the best shows in history.

Thanks to television, as well as reality television programs, the mingling of law and culture carries on and it likely will continue to do so for a long time in the future. These shows are successful because people get to see how things work without having to experience them. The shows have true-to-life people, jobs, tasks, and lives that viewers can understand and relate to. Basically, it gives everyone the opportunity to get inside the legal world without becoming a detective or lawyer, or without committing a serious crime. These shows give everyone something to look forward to because they get entertainment and a sense of education at the same time.

Granted, legal shows like this aren't intended to educate or even be completely accurate. They are made to entertain people. Therefore, some need to be careful about how much weight they put into these shows. However, discussing the inter-mingling of law and culture as it relates to society is an interesting chance to look at things and see how this interest can be used for a greater good. No matter which law shows you like to watch, there's surely been at least one that caught your eye at some point, and that's nothing to be ashamed of.
